december recap: full time freelancer
first month as an full time entrepreneur ~ let’s talk about it
from side hustle to full time, the entrepreneur life has definitely been eye opening over the month of december. a lot of times on social media, i hear ladies mentioning that they left their 9-5 job and started making a ton of money doing social media management right away. i thought this definitely needed some feedback from someone that’s been in social media for 6 years and has just became an entrepreneur full time.
december kicked off month one of my full time entrepreneur life. now it’s time to go over how it went.
getting to turn my side hustle into a full time job was an exciting feeling but also comes with many struggles and emotions. previously, i was working full time & daydreamer social was a fun side hustle that i was working on developing. typically when you have a side hustle, your main goal is to get to the point where you feel comfortable & confident that you can transform it into your full time.
during the month of november, i found out that my full time job was being acquired and that my coworkers and i were not included in that transition. the new company already had a team and there wasn’t room to move over. with that discovery, i made the decision to turn daydreamer social into my full time job. i was super excited but as time came near, i became extremely nervous. this was a big step and it was all about how much effort i put in to make it succeed. the excitement that these other girls experience was not something that came to me.
things i learned…
the entrepreneur life is never as glamorous as it appears on social media
it can be difficult to focus on your own brand since your main focus is clients
i love the freedom but with that comes discipline to structure your days
client drop off rate may be higher with it being the end of the year
that i need to be more confident because i know what i’m doing
it’s ok to have off days ~ they happen to everyone
to give myself grace that i’m new to this and will figure it out
things i’m glad i did when preparing for this…
broke down how many clients i had & the income i’d be making
set goals for all aspects of the business for the upcoming 6 months as well as 2022
networked and gained 2 more clients
ensured my website was up to date and fresh to attract more clients
had a branding shoot to give me fresh content to use to market myself
when i decided to do these monthly recaps, i knew it would put me in a vulnerable place but it could also fall into the lap of someone that needed to hear about my experience to help them out. i find it rather frustrating when social media management is glamorized on apps like tiktok, because it’s not that easy to quit your 9-5 job and start making $10k a month. that takes a lot of build up and work and doesn’t just happen over night.
december was a good month overall and my excitement grew for what 2022 would have in store for me & daydreamer social.
if you’re looking to break away from your full time job and build up your side hustle, i definitely say take the leap. with that, make sure you’ve planned ahead a bit since the build up can take some time.
